Open-Ended UC Personal Statement #3. Help!?

For the UC personal statement #3, some people have told me that this open-ended question (600 words) is supposed to be a persuasive extended response with a thesis statement.

Mine is crafted as more of a narrative that focuses on an activity and doesn’t really start out with a thesis statement per say.

Also, do you know if the personal statement #3 should be submitted with a title or not?

I'd appreciate some insight...I'm starting to run in circles with off of this stuff.

Thanks so much!

Doesnt have to have a thesis or anything, as this is not meant to be an academic essay, but ti cant just narrate. In fact, I try not to narrate my activities. Rather, I use my EC's as a start to show some quality that I have gained from the EC. It highlights the EC but really doesnt talk about the EC itself.

Also, the personal statment doesnt have to be 600 words, but I sure you know that anyway.

what is the fewest number of words you would recommend? because as of now, i've got a solid 460

When they say 600, they want 600ish. I would not recommend it from all the people I have spoken to, as well as from what I have heard from my college counselor.

"Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?"

This is the #3 question....does this question have to be re-stated in your response or do you just present your essay containing the information? Also....should it have a title?? Anybody??

NishtDawg - one of the three should be close to 600. ;0

Dont restate that! If you're answerign the question, obviously there is something they should know.

alright...i'm up to 550 words and i've hit a road block...

try harder... thats my only advice
