Open House Feb 25-26

Okay, a few questions: Who is going?

Have you made hotel reservations yet? (I think students will stay on campus, but I'm not sure)

Are you parents going as well?

The GU Marriott on the campus is already sold out :( I'm very sad about that. I just booked another hotel off M street. I hope it'll be alright. Good news is flights from Florida look cheap (under $200), but I'll hold off booking those for now.

If you are going this weekend, whose excited??? I know my daughter is, and I am as well!

I reallllly want to go, but I have to convince my parents to let me first! We just flew out in November for a college trip thing, and they're hesitant to fly me out again. It would be so much fun, though. You don't understand how much I want to go. And I would also really like my mom to come with me. :o

Hey HS seniors - If you need some college students to show you around campus, just let me know. I might be able to convince some of my friends to do it. ;)

I really wanted to go to the February one, but my mom wants me to go to the April 15-16 one because she thinks it will be nicer/prettier then, with the cherry blossoms or something. Plus she doesn't want to have to risk driving in the snow during Feb.

I going!! I think my parents aren't going with me, so I'm thinking I don't need hotel reservations, but I should tell them about it in case they do go.

You should definitely get used to driving in the snow...it's no fun, and if you're starting in a big city, you'll have an accident. Guaranteed.

Oh, don't worry. We're from Massachusetts. I'm definitely used to driving in the snow. My mom just would rather drive 8 hours to DC when the roads are nice in April than risking that there might me snowstorms or whatever and it taking twice as long to get there.

Gotcha. Right now, we have 6 inches of snow in Michigan.

Snow? Wait, what's snow? Is that what they cancel school for when it threatens to flurry? <----- typical of life in Alabama

ha! we only cancel school when the road crew doesn't have enough salt to make it safe...which is when there's about 12 inches of snow or a nonstop blizzard. Usually happens a couple times a year.

Ha! We only cancel school when... wait... we never cancel school in California. Y'know, unless it gets below 55 or something. Then schools gets cancelled on account of the extreme cold. J/K :D

The only time I actually remember school being cancelled was the Oakland Hills Fire in 1991.

Speaking of open house... I just got the GAAP open house thing in the mail. I love getting mail from Georgetown- it's so exciting. I'm still waiting for my Christmas card, though. That's what I realllly want. :)

School is only cancelled for hurricanes down here, and this year daughter missed 6 days due to them! Not fun. In fact, roof is being replaced right now due to the damage.

We missed a week last year because of the Cedar Fire and two other "minor" fires here in SD county, plus the two or three that were burning in LA County.

granted, it pretty much sucked because we couldn't even go outside.

I'm not going to the Open House, airfare is too expensive I think. I'll have to hope you guys will fill me in on all the details :)

Me too, Manderz. The other better take some good notes and come back and share! ;)

Something to think about guys: My daughter looked at her calendar for April, and out of the four weekends, three are tied up with Prom, Grad Night, and Senior Breakfast. If she is accepted into her other schools, she will only be able to attend one of the Open Houses before the May 1st deadline. For those accepted early action, the Feb. dates might be a better option if applying/deciding on other schools.

Tally of who is going, not going (add to it please):

Redr002's daughter-Feb 25
calidan- not going
Jangel86- April 15
Dressagechick- Feb 25
Manderz1- not going

I will be going. I have yet to make hotel reservations...I need to make sure dates aren't in conflict with other open houses.

Parents are allowed to attend. Admitted students will not be able to stay on campus. We have to reserve hotels as well (i.e. stay w/parents).

i know this is retarded, as it is an "open house", but did you all get invited to it or something...cuz i never heard about it...wanna go though, it might even fall on a college weekend...

sat908, I believe it is only for admitted students, and the package did say they "would like to invite you". Hopefully you'll get your invitation April 1st!!!

well then i'll be praying i get to go to the georgetown open house in april
