Has anyone ever attended these workshops or are you famililar with this company?
Evidently, they audition potential participants at colleges. My son said they came
to his campus MT program. I have not heard of them before and I know this is the
best site to come and get information! Thanks.

My D did a workshop during the summer when they came to visit our area. It was geared towards high school students though. Not sure about this though. Sorry.

From what I’ve heard, their program is mainly for kids, high school and younger. I think they may have a one week deal for college kids but I can’t imagine that it would be all that useful for someone who is majoring in MT. One thing I recall hearing is that their ‘housing’ is some deal with a midtown hotel where kids are 4 to a room, which, in my opinion is crazy. I don’t know anyone who is interested in sharing a bed with a stranger.

He would not be considering the housing for the program as he already has a place to stay,
but wondered about the intensity of the workshops. There is a possibility he will already
be in New York at that time and he was just considering…It is a week for college students/professionals, but I just haven’t heard a lot about this program. Thanks for your
responses so far.

My daughter attended the Open Jar intensive and it is a very solid program. Last year students worked all week with the casting director from glee and Tara Rubin casting. They get to work with amazing Broadway actors and directors then they go to Broadway shows in the evening and watch their teachers perform. Classes are no more then 20 so lots of individual attention. Many of the accompanist are the musical directors from Broadway shows. She made lots of connections from this program. Check out the website and and go to their Facebook page. Ask the former students. Last year one of those students was a big celebrity from Brazil. I would bet you will get only rave reviews from former students.

macchild, did your daughter attend the college session?

She attended the high school group. We know several college students who attended and were thrilled with the experience. Lots of connections and great training.

Thanks macchild!
