Open Scholarships for International Students?

Are there any scholarships (or sponsors for student who needs aid) which are awarded regardless of the university a student wants to attend? What I mean to say is that a student doesn't have to be at a particular university to apply for that scholarship. Sort of like scholarships which fund students' education abroad. (amount doesn't matter, if you can share any)

I am applying to some universities which don't give aid, so I am looking for sources to fund my education if I do get accepted anywhere.

I'd be grateful if you could help. Cheers!

You mean private scholarships? At this point almost all scholarships are closed.

If you need financial aid, why do you even bother to apply to those that don’t give any need based or merit based aid??? Where are you applying, and how much can you pay per year?

And, your stats?

There are scholarships on Fastweb, but they are hard to get and they are for minimal amounts and for only 1 year. So we are talking about $500 to maybe $1000-a drop in the bucket-and there is no guarantee that you will receive anything.

At the undergraduate country, the only real resources (other than from the universities directly) would come from your home country. Some governments financially support their students studying abroad. If that’s not the case for you, you’re out of luck.

There are more options at the graduate level. The Fulbright foundation, for example, funds about 4,000 foreigners in the US yearly and the funds are not tied to any specific institution.

Actually foreign governments do support students to study abroad at all levels from UG to Phd. The caveat is that you have to return to the original support country to service in the government for x number of years.
