Open Showers

I’m a Sociology/Anthropology major studying abroad at the Universidad de Malaga and I’m doing research on communal nudity. I’ve already done some research on the topics of nude beaches and tribal nudity and am switching towards youth. Do you know any college showers are in the form of an open shower room?

I’ve already interviewed students from Point Loma & Military Academies if you know and others that would be very helpful.

I went to Parris Island. It really isn’t a big deal. Maybe because of all of the other stress though that nobody cared. Maybe it is different at colleges that have open showers though.

Oberlin!!!

There are open showers in the gym here at UCSB. But I think all Gyms in america have that.

Last year, I went to a ultimate tournament in Grinnell College. I showered in one of the locker rooms. In fact, I don’t think there’s any male locker room that’s NOT an open shower.

It’d be nice to have a co-ed open shower room, wouldn’t it?

^ it would be terribly awkward.

What MOS did you have? Maybe we have met each other.

Unlikely. I had a contract for 617X, helicopter crew chief. I was on the island from 20090824 to 20091117. I was medically discharged.

(A mom replying here). Times have changed! I went to UCSB from 1966-1970, and at that time all dorms had open showers. We all took showers together (all the girls, that is) and it like our big social time together. We talked and gossiped and wasted tons of water. It never even occurred to anyone to be modest. We were all used to required gang showers from PE in high school

One of my friends goes to one of those resorts and they ummmm dress the same way at home. Its kind of really wierd to me. So are nude beaches. Thats just wierd, especially people who take their kids there.
If i have to use an open shower, im wearing swim shorts or something. And co-ed showers would be really gross. There would be girl hair clogging up the drains and they’d be hogging all the sinks to put on makeup. That would be a really bad idea.

^ every human of your gender has the same body parts. who cares.

^I don’t think Kollegekid is female. If he is female, then I have been sorely mistaken as to his ■■■■■■■■ of this thread.

Im a guy. And if your a girl it doesnt matter if you shower together, but guys arent supposed to. Maybe the sports teams its ok, but not in dorms.

Girls can shower together but guys can’t? I’d love to hear your reasoning for that.

I can explain. Ready? Ok. Pretend you were having a sleepover and it is an all girls sleepover. Girls usually do things like put on make up and hang out in the bathroom and of they sleep in the same bed its ok. They can do their girls stuff and play with their stuffies and whatever they do. If guys are having a sleepover, then we dont play in the bathroom together and you would get beat up (or at least made fun of) if you tried sleeping in your friend bed. Guys just do things different then girls and theres things that just arent cool for guys to do. And i still think its gross for guys to shower together, but for sports teams i guess it would be ok. But if guys in a dorm were showering together it would be wierd. I think im explaining it ok. Thats just what i think, but i bet most guys in college wouldnt want to shower in the open with random dudes. And if i had to id wear my swim suit.

Kollegekid knows wassup.

First off: lolworthy discussion. More seriously: As a guy, I’d rather take a private shower than an open one because showers are times for me to meditate, if only briefly. However, I don’t think that open showers compromise one’s masculinity, as Kollegekid seems to believe. If anything, being THAT uncomfortable around naked guys is kind of weird. I’ve taken plenty of open showers, especially during my time at one of the military academies, and it’s not a big deal.

I’m with lolcats, if I had to shower in an open shower I would, but I much prefer my own personal shower… for uh… “meditation.”

Haha, I was wondering if anyone would catch that. But seriously, that hot water really helps me clarify and focus my thoughts about the day.

So you’re the dude who clogged the drains up.
