The updated schedule for Admit weekend says that the official opening by the Provost will be at 1:15. I didn't know that when I booked my flights in January :(
@current students who went last year: is that important at all? By the time i get to campus it will be like 230.

I did not go last year, however I have heard the provost talk before. You are not missing much. He is just going to tell you how special you are and how great Stanford is.

We actually can’t get to campus until Thursday night, but I think the picnic on Friday with the students’ admit counselors will be more fun than the Provost address. Not to mention many of the other scheduled activities, and other spontaneous things. : )

I’ve been to a couple of prospective student events - which are set up a lot like admitted student events, essentially with the same goals - and I usually skip the formal welcome and closing events. They are usually boring and full of information I already know or encouragement. Given the limited time most of us have on campus, I personally find the time to be better spent elsewhere.
