how's your gpa a 3.85 when all the years are so much lower than that individually?

i'd pick a few of these that you are absolutely most interested in, and then find some more average schools to apply to. boston u, boston college come to mind. the opera thing will help you tremendously, but you have to realize that almost all of these applicants are gonna have over 4.0s and like 2300s. shoot for a few that are your favorites, find some definite match schools (if you have no idea, take advantage of sites like collegeboard.com, collegedata.com, mychances.net, etc.) and then maybe one absolute safety that your SATs and GPA are ABOVE the 75% mark (when the college say their middle 50% is say, 500-600, 600 would be the 75% mark you'd wanna be over). right now, all are reaches. which does NOT mean you don't have a chance. you do. but don't get let down and ONLY apply to such competitive schools. you need to make sure you have somewhere you will DEFINITELY get in, and NO ONE definitely gets into tufts. that's a school that's up there with harvard!

Besides your GPA/Test scores, great shot. I think you'll get into at least one of your reaches. By the way, what did you do in your internships? And how did you get them? A program?

Sinhais: I sent my resume, and researched various internships. The Stanford internship followed the EPGY program, and thus, was not too difficult to get in, however you do have to apply to it (reporting grades, transcript, essays, ecs etc).

My columbia internship was incredibly different though. I sent my resume to the head of the sociology department as well as the ISERP school. I researched some of the fellowship programs and was surprised to find out i was selected (with three others) out of a pool of 150 + applicants. After i had been selected, i went in for two interviews. I worked alongside grad students, directly under the dep't chair. It was great and if you have any other questions, i would be delighted to send you some advice (just send me your questions).
