Operating on New Servers!

Jym, It worked! Thank you! I had no problem following your instructions, as they were very easy to understand (even for me, which is quite a feat)! This was very easy to do, and it worked. My H tried clearing the cache on IE last night, which did not solve the problem. You solved it for me, so thank you, and thank your husband for me too.

You are most welcome, NEM. I am glad we could help, and I am glad this helped. Now that we can get into the parents forum, lets go over to Sinners alley for a drink! Of course we could always get into the parent cafe, but I’ll take any excuse for a cosmo!

Anthony, you might want to keep this info available to you should other AOL users run into trouble. It was easy and it worked. And my husband explained it in a way that us non-tecchies could follow. I have a Ph.D. and I still do not understand all the computer lingo. I always appreciate it when I can accomplish something and am not made to feel like an idiot becaue I do not understand the “computer speak”. Thank you for understanding.
Now, NEM, drinks are on me!

Thanks jym. I’ll have a White Russian, and take advantage of the reduced calories on cc :D. It might as well be made the right way in sinner’s alley, using cream. I’ll buy the next round.

Thanks so much for posting that fix jym. I’m not having any AOL problems now, but you never know when one will pop up.

Thanks NEM and coronax. The AOL TopSpeed is a feature in AOL 9.0 optimized and the other newer versions (I have 9.0 VR, whatever that is). So I guess not all AOL users had this problem. I know AOL can be annoying to use, and many computer people (my husband included) don’t like it very much. My son used to be involved testing their beta versions but got a little frustrated with their programming, as it apparently went downhill, so discontinued this. I hope I am not offending any AOL employees here, but they should hear this feedback. That said, I am obviously still an AOL user, but I do find it a challenge to decipher at times, and appreciate those who are willing to take the time to help me through the problems with it.

NEM-
I forwarded your “thanks” to my hubby at work. He just called me to say “you’re welcome”. He is glad his efforts helped others as well. He KNOWS how frustrated I was with all this!

Unfortanately you never told me you was using the high speed version, but of course i havent used aol for about 8 yrs now, so i have no clue myself.

I just wonder why you would be using it as you have the cable modem, you must be one of those diehard aol junkies… =)

jym, I am glad that you forwarded my gratitude.

Anthony, I am one of those junkies, I guess. My kids don’t understand why I use AOL!

Anthony-
The newer versions of AOL come with this feature. It allows for faster downloads (pictures, graphics, etc) that work in conjunction with the faster internet connections.
Can I kindly make a suggestion? We do not know what we are supposed to tell you when we run into problems with the site. The best thing for you to do is to ASK questions-- like “what version are you using?” or “are you using dial-up or DSL?” or "what kind of internet connection do you use? What speed is it? " etc. The best way to diagnose and solve question is to have all the info you need to do so, but as I stated, we have no way of knowing what you need to know.

I only stick with AOL because I have so many things connected to this email address and AOL doen’t make it easy to forward to new email addresses. So, since its free, I stick with it. But as I said, I use the latest version of their software, which may be a mixed blessing.
