thanks a lot for all that info, orkut!
did you also have dinner there?

yeah, i was debating as to whether i should be skimming through the wsj that day or whatever. but i figured i’d be too nervous to even do that…
asking specific things about markets would be really bad for me since i’m not a finance major; i’m in the sciences.

hope you have some more opportunities at the moment…are you interviewing with any other companies, etc.?

no there was no dinner etc. It was a superday so lots of applicants. Not much else actually. Applying some other places as well. And I dont think there will be any reason for them to ask u about finance. So relax. I hope u get it.

i didn’t receive a confirmation email yet…now i’m getting worried. it’s late into the day, and the interview’s supposed to be tomorrow. i have to make traveling arrangements, too. maybe others took up all the slots for tomorrow? man, i’m so anxious.

i suppose it might be best to call…but they might be working on it, so i don’t want them to get annoyed.

Hey Mike
I am a junior. A friend of mine who was a soph also interviewed but got a rejection pretty early. They have some programs for rising sophs though something called the undergrad camp check it out on their site. good luck though.

Hey guys,
I had my first interview with gs on feb. 14, they got back to me the next day. super day was feb. 22nd, and I just got an email tonight stating that im on hold. soooo upsetting!! did anyone else get this hold nonsense? i know i bombed my first superday interview (GSAM) cause the dude was such a hardass. no facial reaction or anything, just question, after question, after question. after a while i felt like i had committed a crime and was being interrogated. So yeah, just curious if anyone else got the youre on hold BS.

dice, at least you didn’t get dinged…hold tight. good news could come along. maybe the other interviewers are fighting for you.

i had three interviewers. two were really nice; one i could totally relate with, having similar interests, etc. another one was definitely rooting for me and hinting that i should get this position.

unfortunately, i got an interviewer like dice did; he looked pretty strict, questions on and on, going opposite with nearly everything i was saying, and just generally playing the “bad cop” role. it was pretty intense, and i was a bit flustered. in the end, he told me “good luck,” and i always hear that it’s never good to hear that. darn.

Its funny you brought that up. According to the site, I’m selected for additional interviews. I’m pretty sure they haven’t gotten a chance to update everyone’s status. In any case I ended getting an offer for a Business Analyst internship at JP Morgan so I’m actually pretty satisfied. What about you Orkut? Does it say rejected?

hey guys,
i wanted to find out about ops at GS and i’m glad i stumbled upon this forum, but it seems like nobody wants to do ops. personally i’m a sophomore engineer so i’m glad i got some offer from one of the best in the business.

i had my interview on jan 22 or 23 and i was mailed my offer feb 21. i was notified 2 weeks after the interview.

i was wondering what the compensation they determine is based on? is it indicative of what full time entering analysts get?
btw, i really hope u guys hear back soon!!!
on the gs website, it says that i got an offer, but that status changed WAY after i heard back on the phone, so i wouldn’t worry about the website.

did you guys send out thank you notes/emails to your interviewers?
if so, did any of you receive any replies?

i had an interviewer reply back to me…in the end of the note, it said “best of luck in the next steps of the selection.”

all this “good luck/best of luck” stuff are really making me nervous, as it is rumored that it is never a good thing to hear. i don’t know what to make of this…sooooo frustrating.

i hope the rest of you who are waiting are coping well.

hey arcad…if an interviewer bothered to email you back, he/she must have some interest in you.
i only received an email from one guy out of the three – he was the one who ended up offering me a position. so it’s a good sign

btw, I wasn’t placed on hold…I didn’t even know they did that.

thanks for the reply, and congrats on your offer, spiderman!

i hope i’m in the same case – hope this interviewer responded with good intentions. analyzing this “best of luck” thing is getting out of hand.

do you know how the offer exactly works? if someone really liked you, can he/she really fight for you and get you on his/her team? i know they need a consensus, but in the end, how are you selected into a specific ops group? so confusing. i heard it’s usually a crapshoot, but in your case, it seems like the interviewer who liked you took you in for his group.

there was this one particular interviewer who really liked me (not the guy who responded), and i was hoping that he would somehow make an effort to bring me in…

yeah i emailed one of the two guys that interviewed me, and he said the same BS goodluck in the application process. Just got rejected from UBS n JP. kinda wish i was a finance major instead of math now. what are u guys majoring in?

yes i checked my email and my interviewer did write ‘best of luck’ – i didn’t even pay attention to that before
i think u r analyzing this too much…
if someone likes you, they’ll take the time to write an email! trust me, it’s a good sign
btw, i’m an electrical engineer
i don’t know if this helps u guys…but this thurs is ‘spend the day w/ gs ops’ for pple who got positions already…
