I was talking with a professor a few months ago about stuff, and the subject of operations management came up (probably because there was a presentation on it a few days ago) and this professor noted that many of the students who had majored in operations management had job offers even before graduation earlier this year. In comparison, the finance and marketing majors were struggling to find jobs. I was slightly perplexed by this, and asked, "Why?"

She went to elaborate, and in a final note, she said, "Operations are a vital part in any business. No wonder these kids got jobs where others failed to do so."

So, with this forum knee deep in accounting as of recently, is operations management poised to make a comeback as well? After all, before most business schools went finance-centric towards the end of the 1980's, they were primarily focused on operations and strategic management.
