Wrestling (did for 7th - 10th grade, but couldn't this year because of course load)
soccer (did it last year, did it from from 1st to 6th grade as well)
NHS
Community Service Club
Community service with animal shelter (LOTS of hours)
I will also receive the Silver Cord award when I graduate. (Means I have done lots of community service.)

I am going to start competing in competitions. I want an internship with NASA (my cousin's new wife's mom works for NASA). I also want to do research. I want to also start tutoring. (I already tutor my close friends in math and they keep asking for help.)

show initiative… wanting something is different from doing something lol… squeezing all that for 1 year shows a lack of time and effort spent and most definitely will show that u were only doing it for the schools

Yeah, you’re probably right. It’s just that I was on a pretty bad path for the first two years of high school and then reality hit me really hard. (Don’t know if I want to talk about what happened.) I finally found out what I want to do (aerospace engineering) and I looked up the best college for that major. Ever since then I have always had an ambition to do EXTREMELY good in order to get into MIT.

Lots of service, which is great, but an admissions committee is going to be looking for more than just the number of hours you’ve contributed to organizations. Have you been involved in any major undertakings? Ever helped organized a project (big or small) for your community?

Research sounds like a nice way to explore your academic passions, though. Any thoughts on how to go about doing this? Are there any college or universities near you, or would you just start doing something in your high school or on your own?

And remember, ECs alone don’t define an applicant.

Today I looked into my school’s clubs and found that they do not have a science club. My friends and I are going to start one. Ambitiousteen you are definitely right. Cramming all of that will look unnatural almost. So I will simply start the science club and see where that goes. Over the summer I still believe I can get that internship with NASA, and I might take a camp. No idea how I am going to get any research in. I was, at first, thinking of doing a series of social experiments at the mall near where I live and documenting the whole thing, but would that look good? It’s what I am interested in.

OO research is easy… i mean obviously if u couldnt really do stuff earlier in high school… (most people dont do anything in grade 9… high school transition is a huge shock)… but umm get that NASA internship THAT WILL BE HUGE… if u can do a research abstract with someone at a nearby university that will be awesome… obviously do stuff now lol

the more unique ur EC, the more unique ull be… trust me lol… if u do something weird like train homing pigeons etc. then thats cool… if u decide to document social experiences, make sure to impress ur interviewer next year with a few clips lol… that way u can get ur research idea heard… the social experiments are easy and most people actually dont do it… if its worthy, use it for ISEF (something i heard about this year/last year) they have a category for social sciences and behavior projects
