Opinion on Putney?

I'm very interested in participating in one of the Putney Student Travel (<a href="http://www.goputney.com%5B/url%5D">www.goputney.com</a>) programs this summer. I've read over the website thoroughly, but still have many questions. If you've done a Putney program, I'd love to hear about your experiences. In particular, I'm interested in the Global Awareness in Action trips. What are the people like who do Putney? Do you get much out of it? Any insight you provide is much appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't done a putney program but I looked very carefully at it and have friends who have gone.
Since Putney is very expensive (meaning in the 7,000 range) the people who go are obviously well-off. Even if people aren't your type, when you are stuck with a small group of people (most trips are under 20 kids...although my friend who went on the france/italy/oxford trip last summer had over 80) you tend to bond with them just because you are sharing an experience.
All putney programs are very highly regarded and the group leaders are always people who genuinely are interested in what they are teaching. My biology teacher led a trip in the rainforests two summers ago and now goes back every year because she loved it so much.
Personally, I think it is a lott of money to spend on a community service program and I would rather recommend the language programs or precollege but overall, I think you will be happy if you choose to go! good luck!
