opinion pleasee

hey, im a freshman and i was wondering if u could tell me how i am doing so far and if ur opposed to freshman on these boards then dont post please thanksss.
i go to a catholic school in a poor city in massachusetts, but its a great school. these are my classes:
religion 1
honors english 1
honors algebra 2
honors biology
honors french 2
world history 1
computer applications (last semester)
intro to art

last quarter i had all As and A+s. my unweighted gpa was 4.14/4.5
i am in model un, interact club (comm. service), peer leaders, math league, band (im learning drum).
im interested in colleges like brown, tufts, and some other competitive colleges. i want to be a journalist. also some interesting things about me are i am an agnostic at a catholic school, my parents are divorced and my mom lives in a different state --south carolina and i live in an apartment. neither my parents went to a four year college. sooo...what do u think?

You might get some more feedback on the Chances forum, although I don't know if it would be a good idea posting this.

I think you're doing pretty well. You don't need to be worried. I wouldn't be concerned with a 4.14/4.5 UW/W GPA. I am also an agnostic at a Catholic high school, but this won't help your college application in any way. Keep it up.

bummp. anyone else have anything to say. i know i know u want nothing to do with a freshman.

You are fine; attempt something harder next year if possible (maybe AP Mod Euro or APWH if possible). You have a higher GPA than I (a junior) do now, so you are on the right track. And your EC's are quite varied for a freshman at this stage. The divorce might add perspective if it has affected you, which I am sure it has.

You are an agnostic at a Catholic School...shame on you...in fact i don't like you for it.

umm AP's arent available as sophomores. my next year classes are
religion 2
honors english 2
honors geometry
honors french 3
honors chem
honors world history/US history (second semester is as hard as AP)
and then health and p.e.

right now im taking t h e hardest schedule available. thanks for the input and sorry if im being annoying.

No, freshmen are not bad; after all, without them, we have no high school nor people to give advice about HS course.
What is with the H WH/USH course/semester? That, if if it is broad as some, is about as bad as a college course.

also, next year im joining amnesty, nhs, student ambassadors (we give tours and let eigth graders shadow us), and ill be on the exec board for peer leaders. i might do a sport..maybe track.

You have enough and need no more ECs. I don't even have that many myself. And you already have a leadership position in a high school as a sophomore, which is nuts; most leaders are seniors unless they have either founded a club or run unopposed.

"No, freshmen are not bad; after all, without them, we have no high school nor people to give advice about HS course."

Nope... I was never a freshmen.... I was freshmeat.

think of that...now we are stale meat

You are male. Only freshman girls = fresh meat, and particularly attractive and savory meat at that.

actually for peer leaders as long as u fill out an essay u can be on exec board..but shhhhh..colleges dont need to know that lol.

It'd probably be a good idea to take a journalism class if your school has one, or to try and get on the school newspaper if you want to be a journalist.

And Syracuse is supossed to be one of the best colleges for journalism.

Ohio University's Medill School also is highly ranked, but I don't know how good it is since I am not into journalism.

i dont want to necessarilly go to journalism school for undergrad im thinkin more liberal arts colleges. and im technically on the newspaper but i dont like it. its not a great newspaper and no one reads it and i just feel that my time could be spent doing better things. and actually the ecs that im in right now arent extremely time consuming so with the other ones im planning on trying next year it'd be just right i think.

Then why don't you drop the stuff you don't like? You are a freshman and as such are permitted to experiment to find your proper niche.

newspaper is the only thing i dont like. i like the rest of my activities and i dont go to the newspaper meetings im just technically still a member. also a question...im sure im in the top 10% rank but out of 360 i think im probably ranked around the late teens. does this rule out some colleges really already. i know nothing is for sure but would brown, say, probably not be an option? thanks for any help. im curious.

hahah. great GPA. good classes. work hard. and enjoy HS =) you've got a long road that's gna pass by like WHIZZZ.

Hey, GreenDayFan. I am a freshman as well, and I think you're doing great so far.
