I'm going to be a senior next year, but I'm not totally sure which classes I want to take.

So far, my AP's have been:

Freshman: Human Geo
Sophomore: Bio, Euro, French Lang
Junior: Eng Lang, US History, Chemistry, Calc AB, Macro, Micro, Psych (Independent)

I'm thinking of taking Stats independently also this junior year. Is that too much? If I take stats indep, my classes for next year are:

-Forensics III
-AP Gov't (both)
-AP Eng Lit
-AP Calc BC
-(prob) AP French Lit (even though it's been a year since I've spoken French :/)

That leaves me with one more class--a science. Enviro or Physics? I'm not so hot at science, but physics doesn't look TERRIBLE. especially after a year of ap chem w/o honors.

Also--I need to fulfill a UC fine art requirement. I was planning on simply doing art independently with this teacher (very little time commitment), but I've been presented with the possibility of doing AP Studio Art independently. I'm not an AMAZING artist but would like to get better. The AP exam i hear is just sending in a portfolio. And by the end of my senior year, my letters of acceptance will have already come through, so i won't really care about ap score...is it worth it to just have the "AP" label show up on transcript?

I haven't heard anything great about the teacher. but I did hear that almost all of the grade is based off tests, and none off of work. Not sure whether or not this would work to my favor...

Take classes because you like them - not just to get as many AP's as possible. If you don't like physics, then don't take it. Non-science students have trouble with physics. If you aren't strong in science, take Enviro.

From what I hear, AP Studio Art is really hard and extremely face paced. If you are looking for a fine arts credit, you probably shouldn't pick that. I'm planning to take AP Studio Art (drawing) next year, but I'm having second thoughts because I'm not fast in completing works of art, and students have to complete a piece just about every week.

For studio art, it's 12 pieces that show your skill in different media [paint, charcoal, pencil etc] and then 12 pieces that are more of a personal statement, just you expressing yourself. It's pretty tough--most everyone needs to do some pieces outside of class because it is close to 1 a week and the quality needs to be really high.

The AP 'exam' itself is not stressful at all--it's only sending in your portfolio on that day. They give you 2 hours to pack up all your pieces etc. [I think you have to send 5 to collegeboard, and the rest are shown on slides]. I'm not too sure about how the scores are overall. If you REALLY like art, I'd say go for it, because it is an amazing class. But a lot of people also realise that it is too much work, especially for senior year...
