Opinions on Baruch College.

Hi Everyone, thanks for visiting my post. I am considering attending Baruch College next year and I have read many articles about Baruch (Mainly positives), but I want to know what your opinion is and hear some real experiences. In addition, I have a few questions if you can help me answer.

1) What are your opinions on Baruch College?
2) How is the accounting and finance program there?
3) Do many Wall St. firms recruit at Baruch? (I read that many IB's recruit at Baruch, but is that really true?
4) Do you know of any competitors to Baruch in its cost and value of education? Is Baruch worth it?
5) Which do you think is better: Baruch, Rutgers-New Brunswick, TCNJ, Kean University, Stockton College?
6) Any alumnis or prospective Baruch students?

Again, thanks for your contribution to this post. Your comments, opinions, and experiences will no doubt help me, but I hope it will help all those who are reading this post and those who may be attending Baruch one day.

All the Best,

PS- I am currently a sophomore student at a community college in NJ and I wish to transfer to another college next year. My GPA is currently 3.95 and I want to

My understanding is that most people see it as a commuter college with a solid finance and accounting program. I suppose if you worked hard enough academically and leveraged the alumni network + location, you could have a shot at IBD.

mainly a commuter school - most kids go into accounting or back office roles at the bulge brackets. it’s a good value, just not a typical college campus type atmosphere (it’s basically one building)

IB’s recruit there but not for front office analyst roles.

Hey askjeeves and GWAlum07, thanks for your great opinions. Im currently at a commuter school, so i guess I will be used to it, if I apply there, and I might plan to commute myself.

Now since the IB’s hire the students at Baruch to their back offices, is it possible to move from the back office to the front office? My ultimate goal is to become an analyst, so is it possible to work in the back offices for a few years and then internally apply for a front office job??

Again, thanks!!!
