Opinions on Carleton College

I am a high school junior. I visited Carleton last week, and absolutely adored it. I love the feeling on campus, the academics, the study abroad… It seemed perfect!

However, I know that the admissions office is trying to show the best image of their campus to prospective students, and I was wondering if anyone who currently attends Carleton (or has a daughter or son at Carleton) would be willing to share what they DON’T like about Carleton.

Or is Carleton as perfect as it seemed?

Yep, it’s pretty perfect.

Freshman daughter seems to love it. Reality matches the schools academic and overall student life reputation.

Tired of cafeteria food. Goes to St Olaf for a change. And I sent some salsa.

Socially and academically, no complaints.

It is really cold in the winter.

@intparent Haha I’m from Wisconsin so it wouldn’t be that bad

Daughter is very happy, though she thinks the mascot should be a penguin and not a Knight…

Close friend’s son is a senior Econ major. He loves it. Got a great job offer too.

If my S17 wasn’t set on Engineering, he’d be applying there next fall.

My son graduated last June & loved it. Extra good if you play Ultimate.

Are you a varsity athlete or are you planning on being a varsity athlete at Carleton?

@bluecollar I play varsity tennis, but I probably won’t continue it in college.

Well then I agree with everyone else and their comments. Great school academically, socially. Food can get old, but that’s the case everywhere and we partner with Olaf so you can use your meal swipes there. Most people fiercely love it here, I’m sure you will too
