Opinions on SRD

I'm considering living at SRD while attending UT Austin. Does anyone have any insight to whats its like to live there? What they like/don't like? Important info to share?

I’ve visited the website so I know the basic info, just curious about ppls experience there

Go for it! Everyone I know who has lived at SRD absolutely loved it. It’s conveniently located, pretty cheap, and has great food.

However, it’s probably too late to get a room there now for next year, so just a heads up.

Thanks for your reply

Yea I’ve heard that it fills up fast. (I’m currently a High School senior) but I recently sent SRD my application for fall 2010, so hopefully im ahead of the game

Yeah you should be fine. The only thing that can hurt you is if you apply late without Masonic sponsorship, but you’ve applied early enough that you’ll be fine.

I lived there long, long ago (1980-1984). I loved it, obviously, to live there all four years! I had a sunroom, which had no sink but was worth it because it was bigger than the typical room. I loved the pool, the food, the lobby, attic study hall, everything. We could have guys on the floors only a couple of times a year, so I’m glad that’s changed! All our dinners were sit-down, too, and the waiters served us. I was an engineering student, and the walk to Cockrell Hall was pretty short. I hope my daughter will consider living there if she goes to UT 7 years from now!
