Opinions on Virginia Tech?

Hello Everybody!

I am a freshman at Virginia Tech, and I was just wondering what the reputation is of my areas of study. I am in the College of Science, double majoring in Statistics and Computational Modeling and Data Analytics (CMDA), hopefully adding a minor in Spanish. I grew up wanting to be a Hokie, with the exception of a few months I favored Georgetown and James Madison University, as I wanted to be an International Relations major. But I just wanted to know what people thought of Virginia Tech in terms of these areas of study, as everybody accepts it as a great engineering school.

I’ve been hearing good things about CMDA but not as good as their engineering rep of course.

VTech is a great school. Data Science is one of the hottest field in job market now. Make sure you get good GPA, and learn tools of the trade- Python, R, GitHub, Hadoop and other big data technologies. Find out at your school what companies recruit at your school in your major and get an internship there.
