I got accepted to both Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Fullerton, I am having a difficult time choosing between the two. I will be majoring in Computer Science. I think my decision will mostly boil down to aid offer/cost, college/social life, Computer Science program, and internship/job opportunities. I have been offered the same amount of aid in grants, but Cal State Fullerton is offering me about $2,500 more in loans. (Not sure if that’s better, but I feel like it will allow more wiggle room if I need it, although I plan to minimize the amount I take out in loans). I will most likely be commuting to both these colleges, they are both about the same distance away from me. I do not know much else about these colleges when it comes down to the other things I listed! I know Cal Poly is well known for Engineering, but I don’t know much about their comp sci department. So any help on the college life, comp sci department, and internship/job opportunities will be greatly appreciated!
Check out the career center for each regarding internships and job recruiting. The opportunities are there, you just need to take advantage of them.
Compare the CS curriculum for each school to determine if there are any major differences between the programs along with looking at some of the electives if you have a particular area of interest.
Both are commuter schools, so since you will be commuting, you will be in the majority. I know that many schools are helping commuters integrate more into campus life so join a club while attending and try to spend more time on campus other than just going to class.
Both good schools so no bad decision here.
Both are good but, I’d lean to CPP for this one. Just for the Poly learn by doing approach and STEM reputation.
Skip the loans if you can…
Good luck.
