My son has a low GPA about 3.0 due to a weak 9th grade but has been on a steady incline ever since. He loves BU. He is now in a full IB rigorous senior yaer courseload, good ec’s, good rec’s, great essay, good SAT’s 1980, 600cr690m690w (12 essay) he applied to school of communincations, first gen. kid to go to college. Any thoughts about what you think may be the outcome?

It is really hard to say and obviously any guess would be no more than that; just a guess. Having a steady upswing in grades is always a good thing, as is a rigorous senior year schedule. SAT scores seem pretty strong, minus the one 600 section. There are sooooo many intangibles and little variables that come into play with regard to admissions. As an earlier thread mentions, none of us are admissions people and we have no idea in reality. When we give out "chances", it is with no real basis or knowledge. I think the biggest intangible that most people don't pay enough attention to is showing the school how much you want to be there. By that, I mean visiting campus, taking tours, attending school admissions events and receptions. Also, the supplementary essays can be a great way to express how BU is the perfect match for you. These words and actions say alot more than grades and SAT scores. So good luck with the application and I hope everything works out well.
