Opinions Please?

Hello! I am new here so I hope this is in the right forum :)

I am high school senior in CA and it was my goal/dream to attend UCD. Unfortunately, I was rejected and am now wondering which would be the best route for me to take in order to get into a good grad school. Right now I have been accepted into SJSU as a psychology major and I want to study/emphasize in biopsychology.

So, in my position would you go to SJSU for four years or go to community college and try to transfer to a UC after two years? I don't really know much about SJSU's psychology program so any information would also be helpful!

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

Can you transfer from SJSU to UC Davis?

I’m not very familiar with SJSU’s psychology program, but I’ll BUMP your thread so others might answer your question!

I think it’s possible, but transfer from CSU to UC is harder from what I’ve heard. Transferring from a CC using TAG ensures acceptance. I just am not really sure if I want to have the traditional college experience at SJSU or transfer, so I’m hoping someone will have an idea.

Thank you very much! :)

If you go through CC, it won’t be difficult to transfer into UCD for psychology. You might even be able to transfer into higher ranked UCs like UCB or UCLA if you have a decent gpa. Community College is the easiest route to transferring into a UC. If you don’t get a decent gpa during community college, the worst case scenario is that you’ll end up at SJSU as a transfer. However, I’m sure if you’re planning on graduate school, your gpa at a community college will be high enough to get you into UCD, and possibly higher ranked schools.

PS You should check the UC Transfer forums for more advice and help with the transfer process. It’s never too early to start planning now. If you plan now, and take a heavy courseload, you might even be able to complete 60 units to be able to transfer in as a junior for fall 2011.

Thank you for all the info! I didn’t know about being able to transfer in one year, so I will be sure to check out the transfer forum. Thanks again! :)

I’m still curious about psychology at SJSU though, if anyone knows?
