Okay,
I live in Colorado and I will need Financial Aid.
I got a 25 on my Practice ACT.

Freshman year I took Advanced LA and Math and got a 3.5 cum

Sophomore year I took Advanced LA, Math and Spanish and got a 3.5

Junior year I am taking Advanced Math and AP Spanish and LA and am still at a solid 3.5

Next Year I plan to take AP Spanish, Marketing, AP English, Psychology, Sociology, Marine Biology, and Pre-Calc

I am an Officer in FBLA and DECA. I ran for Colorado State DECA Officer. I have done multiple community service events through DECA and FBLA. I mentor at my church every week for middle school students.
I have also been crowned Ms. Rocky Mountain Teen 2010 recently and have completed many community service events with the Ms. Colorado corporation as well.
I am also active in Young Life and Invisible Children club.

I am worried about getting into college because of my mediocre GPA. (It is my weighted GPA- 3.54). I do not want to stay in state at all.

Neither of my parents have attended college, and only one of my grandparents attended college. I really want to go somewhere in a cool city or near the beach. I would LOVE to go to UCSB or UCI or UCSD or UCLA, but I think those are all out of the question. Do you?
I would also love to go to Boston.
I really want to go to a spirit school. I am in love with CU Boulder, but I live 15 minutes from it so I really want to venture out. Ideally, I would love a good University that resembled CU Boulder.

The UCs are a crapshoot for everybody. If you have the financial means, you can send your one UC application to however many you want. UCLA, UCSD and UCSB would be reaches. I’m not sure about UCI. Have you looked at UO or UCSC? What about BU for a Boston school? Those strike me as similar to Boulder in some respects. Will you need financial aid? What size school are you looking for?

Yes I will need financial aid.
My parents do not have the money to send me through college out of their pocket, and neither of them went to college.

I want to be a Psychologist and minor in Business. I am in DECA and I am going to internationals this month for competing in business situations. I love business, however, I do not want to spend all day in a cubicle.

I’m looking for a big school. Basically exactly like CU.

What’s your EFC? most schools that will meet full need are super selective but a few aren’t (Beloit accepts 62% of applicants)

Your GPA isn’t a barrier as much as test scores. You need to study for the ACT/SAT. Start studying now. That’s the key to getting money. find out if you’re an SAT or ACT person. Don’t take a practice test, take 10. Study the problems you get wrong, get a tutor if you need help. That’s the best thing you can do to improve your chances.

California public schools are insanely expensive and not known for their generosity. It’s not the only state with beaches though. The only large school in Florida that I know that offer good OOS merit is UCF (it’s not that close to the beach but it’s within driving distance, and Disney is kind of like a cool city).Apply EARLY because the money goes fast. They do want high standardized test scores, think 33-35 ACT.

I feel like an idiot, but I do not know what an EFC is.
I do not have enough money to get a tutor, my parents do not really care about that kind of stuff. It’s ridiculous.
I have books to study from and I can study from multiple practice tests.

I was looking into Hawaii, however I feel like it will be to expensive to leave so I will be island bound forever.
Are all out of state schools going to be way more than in- state? I know that there are schools that are reciprocities of Colorado, meaning that I can apply for in-state tuition, however I do not know how common it is granted.

If you want a school exactly like CU, and CU is reasonably priced, go for CU!
University of Vermont or University of Washington or University of Oregon may be somewhat similar, but would be much more expensive.
