So the great news is my DD was asked to scholarship weekends at two schools she really favors! The bad news is that they occur over the same extended weekend She quickly contacted both schools and both seem willing to work with her. She will likely be able to attend the essential interview portion at both schools. However, she will miss a lot of the additional activities like dinner at the president’s house, attending information sessions, classes and social activities with prior scholars. I would be interested your opinions as to whether she may be spreading herself too thin and actually compromise her chances of winning either scholarship. I am sure this problem has arisen multiple times prior on CC.
Whatcha gonna do…can’t be in 2 places at the same time…sounds like you’ve got a reasonable solution…if you have to pick, she should go to the school that she can best see herself attending…roll the dice and see how it plays out
My understanding is that the interview is where you are actually evaluated and the other parts of the scholarship weekend are more like fun social activities and a way to get the student more interested in the college. The fact that they are willing to be flexible indicates to me that those other activities aren’t required to be considered for the scholarship, so if she really does want to go to both it seems like she’s going to be fine.
Thanks for the responses.
@LaxDad777 Congrats on the good news! Where are you all headed?
