Opportunities at Belmont

Hi, I'm a singer/songwriter who is looking into becoming a musician, particularly in the Christian Contemporary genre. I also play the guitar, and most of my songs are written for it (as well as piano). I'm looking to transfer, but am not sure exactly what I want to study. If it's Belmont, though, it would be for music performance/composition. I was just wondering how successful are those who graduate from Belmont, and would it be advisable to try for a degree there given what I'm looking for? Thanks.

You will not find any illustrative definition of success from any program here. How one establishes that methodology and system of applying ranking is a cause of debate for any program.

The best source of information would be within illustrative examples drawn from the musical community at large, as well as from discipline specific subgroups within the industry.

Most schools are happy to share success stories of their alumni. There may well be such at list at Belmont’s website, or on their music department webpage. If not, I would suggest inquiring of Belmont directly.

There may be a few here with specific examples through their experiences with Belmont.

There are numerous threads about Belmont. You can do a title search within this forum with Belmont as the keyword, and display the results as threads.

There are a few threads dealing with Christian or faith based programs as well, and a similar search should reveal them. If you have trouble, let me know and I can pull some links.

Search for posts by the username henrob as well.

Nashville (and especially the very nearby cities of Brentwood and Franklin) is the center of the contemporary Christian music world. My son is attending Belmont in the fall. Having said that (and living not far from Nashville)…

There’s a saying around Nashville: You can’t throw a rock without hitting a singer/songwriter.

That “everyone” is a singer/songwriter is an exaggeration of course but they are plentiful. Whether you or anyone else can achieve what you want is un-know-able. But it’s a good place to try.
