Opportunities at Cornell

Would Cornell Engineering afford me many opportunities during my years there and, more importantly, after, compared with the dual degree of a B.A. from Barnard College and B.S. from Columbia University? New York City just has so many chances for internships and job opportunities.

doing cornell engineering IN ithaca would mean that you would most likely have your internships outside of ITHACA sometimes in NYC but also in other parts of the state/country…

not sure that barnard/columbia has any more or less NYC internships than CORNELL

But the only time I would be able to do those internships would be during the summer, co-op, study abroad, etc. Should I let that affect my decision in going there?

No. Very few full-time students have the time/energy to commit to an in-semester internship or co-op. When I was working in Boston we would not touch the resumes of students from Harvard or Tufts because we knew they wouldn’t have the time to commit to 16-24 full hours of work a week, and we would typically hire students who had already graduated for our school-year internships. Summer employment was obviously a different story, and we had interns from Cornell, Dartmouth, Chicago, etc.

Cornell Engineering has a wonderful co-op program.
