Opportunities Program

I have to see where I get accepted to first, and if among all of my choices NYU seems the most appealing to me, then yes I will be doing the 6 week summer program.

what did you get on your sat earlygrad?

I would rather not say, if that's okay, but I'm sure thats a large factor of it. I received a 27 ACT if you wanted to know, but I think aside from that they took into account that I am an eleventh grader graduating a year early.

Oh, and to answer your previously posted question a while back I believe that your SAT is too high to be considered for the program, but I am sure if you really wanted to be you could call up NYU admissions.

wait, so these are kids who are getting acceptance purely to push the agenda of allowing poorer students into higher tier colleges, regardless of their SAT scores/grades/credentials? i'm sorry, but if that's the case, i really have a problem with that.

Wow, then I rather be poor.

:sarcastic:

Kezbies
read my earlier post, these programs are for promising and bright students.

also i forgot, the are for residents of NY state and funded through NYSHED

To RacPaime and Kezbies,

I can't believe there is such discriminating remark about people who have low income. If you guys are discontent about the rules or regulations of nyu then go complain to nyu. This forum is not a place for you guys to express such condescending opinions of others. Besides, jmldouglas is just trying to inform applicants of an opportunity to get into nyu.

I was thinking the same thing CSiu, I created this thread with the intent to learn, and help others learn about the Opportunities Programs, not as a place for degradation. In the future please keep your negative comments to yourself, and if you feel so strongly about NYU's admission decisions either take it up with them or write your feelings down in a journal.

All this is pretty confusing. What does NYU actually want? I have seen people with high GPAs with great activities rejected and those with lower GPAs and almost no activities accepted. Likewise NYU now has all these programs. It is pretty confusing. Ironically, they do not provide financial aid to poor yet bright and promising international applicants.

However, while I think NYU should provide financial aid to poorer, promising students I do not get why they want to create a program when you can simply accept them as regular students and simply give aid.

okay, CSiu, don't get those panties in a bunch. i was simply clearing up what the program actually was, make sure i was understanding it correctly. notice the part that says, "if that's the case THEN..." i wasn't trying to be descriminatory in any way, i was simply clearing up my own misunderstanding.

so relax.

On a positive note... EarlyGrad i'm just like you I'm also an 11th grader who is graduating early

That's actually comforting to sort of know a real person who will be introduced to college in the same manner as me. If you get accepted to NYU are you definitely going to enroll?

Yes I definitely will. I loooove the school and almost every aspect matches what I am looking for in a school. It's great that we are both in the same position. Was it as hard for you as it was for me- because there were a few people at my school who didn't want me to graduate early they think that I'm too young...It would be great if we both got in though. How about you? Will you enroll?

Relax earlygrad, I was not making any opinions. It was a joke.

I'm relaxed RacPaime, and now I see that it was joke, but some people do take offense to that. To Kiwikimmi, a lot of my friends don't want me to, and at first my mom didn't want me to but throughout this whole process she has been really supportive. My mom was afraid that I wouldn't be able to fit in with older children, but I'm sure we will both be fine. If I get in I would of course consider enrolling, but I would have to first see where else I get accepted to.

To kezbies,

Your method of using the words seems to contradict your true opinion. If that's the case THEN it is clear that you do have a problem in English. I hope that subject is not your forte. In addition, EarlyGrad08 express similiar concerns of your behavior so there is no misunderstanding in your comments. Nevertheless, I will relax as you learn how to use your words accurately. Good luck on that.

^^ ugh, your arrogance is highly unappealing.
