Option: Working Holiday in New Zealand

If you have a student who wants to wait for Tulane to re-open......consider a working holiday in New Zealand.

Easy to apply online. Airfares have been low. Jobs in construction--painters, laborers, etc abound.

This morning, 19 year old Gap studnet who arrived last week got a job as a brush hand for $17 per hour. Leaves for Queenstown tomorrow with snoboard in hand.

Oohh, ooh, can I come?? I have already siged up to house a displaced Hurricane family-- so they can just hold down the fort here while I head over with my skis!! Oh,, One problem... I am just a "tad" older than the upper age limit...by over 20 yrs.... Think they'll mind??

uh...yeah, they will mind. Very difficult to get ANY sort of NZ working visa if you are over 50--no matter what your financial status. They don't want you in their nationalized health system.

Sorry.

Good on you for adopting a family! I knew Americans would come through like that!

Phooey. It's just darned discriminatory. I am helathy-- don't need their !@#$$%%^ nationalized health system... yet :)

Yeah yeah...all you old people say that ;)

It's not the money, they don't have the infrastructure to take care of more patients. Too many docs go to the UK for triple pay packets.
