Optional Artistic Material

I submitted optional artistic material (slides of my artwork) along with my application, and I was wondering about the benefits of doing this (does it improve my chances of getting accepted, or what...?). I've won many awards for my art and I got a 5 on my AP portfolio, so my work is pretty good.

Of course it helps. It definitely can't hurt. (though it helps more when the stuff you submit is really good) I submitted a supplement like that for Duke (it was a performance tape, I'm a singer) and I am pretty sure it helped me get in.

Obviously it isn't going to get you in on its own, Duke isn't exactly an art school, but they are always looking to bolster their artistic chops. (something Duke definitely needs to keep trying to do, the more people involved with art and music here the better)

should help but the your scores, essay etc. need to be up to par as well. I turned in a dance tape and you never know honestly but it could have been what pusehd me over the dge and into duke.
