optional arts background form

Can I submit a dance DVD along with the resume?

They said no videotapes, but I don't remember them saying anything about DVDs.
You might want to call them and ask.

I have a person question about this topic as well...is it alright to send in a portfolio of sorts even if you are planning to minor in art?

Yeah, I think that at any school, any art/music/etc you'd like to send in would be appreciated.
I sent in music and I'm not planning on majoring or minoring in it.

I think no videotapes means no DVDs too.

Did you girls ever read "The Gatekeepers?" Well, there was the part about the kid who sent all his short stories and had an author (who actually did know him) write a recommendation for him. The admissions officer read neither the stories or the rec, but really liked his essay and the kid did get in.

Yepunsarang, Wellesley is asking for Arts stuff if you have it, so if by "portfolio" you mean 35mm slides organized into a 8.5x11" protector, you should send in your best stuff. It's not a prerequisite for any activity in the Art department (I'm assuming you want to minor in studio art, not art history). I'm not sure if the slides have to arrive simultaneously, so since it takes a while to get slide film developed (even the places that "do" it send it out), don't bother if it puts your app from EE to RD. Otherwise, go for it.

Well on the arts supplement form, it said the supplement must be postmarked by December 15 for EE and Jan 1 for RD, so I assume that paratha101 and yepunsarang are applying RD, right?

Thank you so much guys! That was helpful. By the way, i'm a junior so i'm not applying this year and will be applying next year probably as an ED student. I hope you guys all make it (for those of you who are applying) and I hope to see you at Wellesley!
