For current and accepted MIT students, did you guys put in your optional cultural background? Is it truly optional and in no ways impact your app?
i put it in just in case and talked about how I see the world different because of my background. If it helps you express the complete picture of you, I would recommend writing something for it. But, if its too late to get some polished write now, I woundnt sweat it
