Optional Essay C Question.

My parent got laid off several months ago and was offered a job in Texas. He accepted and will begin working next week. My family IS planning on moving to Texas after I graduate. I know that applying OOS is a crapshoot, but if I explain my family's move to Texas, would that benefit me at all? Or should I not even bother with explaining?

Write an essay C regardless.

Ok, thanks.

How long should the essays be? Is there a word limit?

Well moving to Texas doesn't mean anything in terms of them considering instate, so it doesn't matter at all in that regard. I don't know what the Essay Topic is, but if you have something to write, write it. It won't make a difference if you put that though. The whole point is that you have lived here for a while.

Also keep in mind that you don't need to write an essay C regardless, unless you do have something to say. I've personally listened to admissions counselor at UT say that unless there is a special circumstance that you need to talk about in essay C, then you shouldn't write it or else it basically looks like you're fluffing your application which = waste of time for you and them.
