last week i was in Houston... lol
@aschap91 - i hear that u been accepted by UT.... ur major plz?

OMG!!! lol ... lookin to escape this place and move on to a place not run by high schoolers.

Funny! because thats how I feel about Spring lol

Another Katy kid here. Definitely agree on the part about not being able to wait to leave this place haha. Austin>Katy by far.

My major is actually listed as philosophy, but I plan to double major in english.

yes, my parents are horrified. haha. :)

I'm an early grad at my school so a lot of people know and have been asking me about my college plans, and their first question (being from texas and all) is "SO are you going to UT or A&M?" and when I say that I have no definite plans to attend school in texas, but if i do I will be going to UT, they say "Oh, McCombs or Cockrell?" haha. They look at me weird when I say Liberal Arts. Oh well!

The way i figure it, with my chosen major I'm going to HAVE to have a masters in order to do anything with my life. Why blow all my college savings at a 50k/yr school? Saving it for grad!

And I mean...i guess UT won't be THAT bad.... ;) just kidding, it will be awesome!

What about you guys(or girls)? What are y'all planning to major in?

lol thats funny aschap91, because thats exactly how it is here. but thats true about having to get a masters with those majors, unless you want to be a teacher or something! as for me, I listed my major as economics (liberal arts) but i'm wanting to transfer into mccombs :)

going back on topic for just a minute, should I write essay C?

i think ur essays are really good. U've pretty much included important pts. So, I think its not necessary for u to go for essay C

I feel you! My parents made me decline CAP too.. Long story. but that is a great idea for topic C

Well everyone, I submitted my application today and application check online shows that they have received everything except my current college transcript. They have my HS transcript and the courses I took at a comm. college in high school from when I applied last year, so I suppose those don't need to be resent since it already says "received."

Fingers crossed everything goes well. I only submitted the 2 required essays, not essay C. I felt the previous posters were correct and I don't think I have any special circumstances that need to be addressed. I trust what the admissions counselor at UT told me at my visit, and that unless I did have a special circumstance, then essay C would just be a waste of time.

I even submitted my housing application, which surprisingly I receieved a fee waiver on even though I didn't specifically request a waiver for housing - just admission to the university. I didn't even know they granted waivers for housing. All I have to do now is wait to hear from my english professor to see if she will write me a recommendation and submit my transcript the minute i'm back at school. Oh, and fax my financial aid letter to UT so I can get the $60 fee waiver. So basically i'm done. I just have to wait until May!

You wont hear back until May? I am applying this weekend for sure. My essay is taking a bit longer than I wanted to finish. I don't know if I should wait for my letters of rec. to be done before I apply. Good luck!

MAY!?!?! That's insane. Most places require you to either accept or decline admission by May 1. (at least I'm pretty sure that's the case. Like 99% sure for Ivies, anyway.) Are you sure its not march that you receive your decision?

^ no you don't have to wait for letters of rec to apply. you can even send your application in by itself, and essays letter. I would recommend you do that so you can apply for housing ASAP which I did. and since i'm applying for transfer I won't hear back until may unfortunately, when they receive my spring scores. good luck to you too!

oh right transfer student. Sorry. didn't catch that.

what? may? i think only if u want to consider ur may score for admission....
otherwise u going to hear ur decision by march end.
