optional essay for transfer students? Where do i submit it?

<p>I am planning to transfer in fall 2013 and I was looking on the rpi transfer website and it states </p>

<p>"The essay is optional for all transfer applicants. </p>

<p>However, we do encourage you to submit an essay with your transfer application. The essay should address why you want to transfer to Rensselaer, and should be approximately 250-500 words."</p>

<p>Where do i submit that essay? I can't upload in the supplement part. am i suppose to upload in the writing section of the common app where the prompt is "Please provide a statement (appr. 250-500 words) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve"??</p>

<p>You should submit your essay in the writing section of the Common App. I used the Universal App, although the same most likely applies to the Common App. Alternatively, you can send your essay by mail. The address is on the website. Good luck!</p>
