<p>Is the optional essay really OPTIONAL? Or is it not necessary?
I feel like my stats are okay for USF? I have applied for nursing.</p>

played piano for about 10 years. Passed level 12 test this year.
Have been going to Chinese school on Saturdays- 11 years</p>

<p>Your scores put you in like the lower ~25% of entering freshman, though your rannk/GPA put you more around 50%. You also have some nice ECs there. Decent chance of getting in, good luck!</p>
<p>The essay is definitely optional. If you don’t write it, it won’t affect you at all, but if you do, it can help add to your application. With scores in the lower 25% applicant, I’d write it. If you really want to be at USF, there’s no reason to not write it! If you do choose to write it, just make it well thought out and meaningful- don’t just write something to fill the space. That won’t help your application at all. Totally up to you though.</p>

<p>I decided that I will not write the optional essay because I think that my common app essay touches upon the subject already.
USF is one of my top choices but not my first. Thanks again.</p>
