<p>is anyone doing the optional personal essay on diversity? i want to do it but i have no idea what to say. yea, i'm black, but obviously i need to say something more than that. is the essay going to help with admissions?</p>
<p>Always do optional essay...you don't want to look lazy or uncaring do you?
Anyway..just be honest and start with the contrasts of your personality..you know, work vs. play.</p>
<p>Both of my kids got accepted to Tech and did not submit the essay. Most of their friends did not do essays, though I am talking about in state and probably at least 20 or more kids from the graduating class go there. They have so many applications, that I would be surprised if they take the time to read the essays. It seems to me that it is all about the numbers.</p>
