<p>On Harvard's Common App supplement there is a section for "optional essay." Would you guys recommend doing this, and under what circumstances?</p>
<p>If you would like to get into Harvard, I would suggest doing it.</p>
<p>I would suggest writing an optional essay only if you have not had a chance to show a different side of yourself in any other part of the application.</p>
<p>Cmon u guys, i mean optional essay actually stands for "if u dont do it u might as well forget Harvard"......</p>
<p>I didnt actually write an essay, but did the list of books thing, but made it more into a brief description on the books, why I had read them ect. I'd say it was about 200 words, but didnt have a introduction/middle/comclusion type structure or anything of an essay.</p>
