Hey guys. I want to use the optional page to list and describe my piano awards over the years. I have a lot, so they don't fit in the activities box. Should I use the optional page for this, or is this page reserved for an essay?

I think you can put anything on it.

I'm telling a funny story and then adding a brief note at the end that clarifies my senior year course schedule....

I'm not saying that's a bad idea, ForeverZero, but is seeing an additional list of piano awards going to tell Princeton anything about you that they couldn't figure out from the regular app? I'm guessing that if you list your top handful of awards (and indicate the years and time per week you have spent on piano), they will deduce that you are a pretty good piano player. If you are really, really good, then perhaps you should send a CD along with an explanation of how you hope to use your talent at Princeton.

There isn't any single right answer to your question - maybe an impressive list of musical accomplishments will wow the adcom. I'd be inclined to use the optional page to highlight a different aspect of my background and aspirations, or even to do something on the piano topic more creative than an awards list.

Good luck!

rather than a list you could probably change it into an essay about piano throwing in a few major competitions and what you have won

you could just send the list instead of having to list in an essay
