Optional Personal Statement for Penn State U Park - Should I do it?

I'm applying to Penn State University Park and I was just wondering if you guys think it's necessary to do the personal statement as I'm not quite sure if it will hurt my chances or help them. I don't really know what to write for the personal statement but if it's necessary I'll definitely try. thanks

GPA - 3.52/4.0
SAT - 2120/2400 1440/1600
17 AP/Honors classes
Good EC's - president of a club, VP of german honor society, editor of section of school newspaper
Volunteer hours - slightly over 100 hours

I think it’s probably better if you try to put something there. You can just copy & paste your essay for the Common App and re-word it a bit.

It might help. Do ANYTHING that can increase your chances.

Uh, why are you even worried. You’ll definitely get in without the statement… that is unless you’re applying to nursing, architecture or schreyer… It’s tougher to get into those programs

yes. do it.

Just write one and submit it.

(I wonder if the total number of apps to Penn State will dip thi syear because of “the troubles.”)
