I sent a photo of myself with my WashU and Yale applications...even though their commonapps didn't ask for one. Does that seem cocky?

haha I wouldn't think so, unless you are ridiculously handsome or pretty. lol

Did their normal app. ask for a photo? If they didn't, I'm not too sure, why you would send in a photo (not to be mean or anything..).

my counselor suggested it. i dont know about their normal apps. it was a pic of me in a choir TShirt with 2 old lady friends...i hope they don't think i'm 70!

Well, I included a photo more subtly to my colleges. ;)
I sent a supplementary material portfolio to most of my colleges, of my newspaper work, and at the end, as the last page, included our victory picture. :) It's of our staff cheering as we hold big frames showcasing our newspaper issues and awards. :D
That's not ... bad, is it?

i dunno i think if they dont ask for it, they either wont care or they wont like it

Just out of curiosity, why do colleges ask for pictures, anyway? Georgetown is the only college I'm applying to that requests one, but I don't understand why.

Columbia gave an option of uploading a picture as well.

In the case of a tie, they pick the prettiest applicant.

;)

I sent an optional photo to Dartmouth and Cornell, and Columbia requested one.
I did this because it's another way to show my..not-so-hooky hook lol

it seems so weird that they would want a photo....i would be scared of biases

i dunnno i wouldve liked to send them in everywhere, but i thought it would be a negative if they didnt even ask for it. assuming the people who want to send them in anyway are pretty good looking, they might just think youre trying to show that off i dunno

There's a New Yorker article about how Harvard used pictures to keep the Jewish student population down.

In fact, many of the current application's facets evolved from this practice.

I heard that interviews were instated at Harvard to keep Jews out.

I ended up submitting this one. It's kinda scary, now that I look at it again.

My g.c. attached a photo to every transcript she sent out. We thought it would add a face to the application, make it a bit more personal. Some of the things I wrote about were a little off-beat and some of the things I've done are not typical. Just added the photo to kind of tie it all together.

HVSahin: That's a great photo -- very personal indeed!

I think my smile is my only good asset. It hopefully takes away from my huge nose. :(

I didn't notice your nose being big!

I guess it worked then. =)
