Does anybody know why Columbia's online application has the option to include a personal photograph? Does being good-looking help your chances?

lol the photograph is for admission officers to recognize those that they have met during a campus visit or other occasions. so they'd be able to say ooo thats the guy that was stalking us for information!!!

I don't think they'd judge people on looks,

If you're a good looking girl, it can't help to include a photo. Men are on the admissions committee. Boys will be boys -- that's life.

^ha ha ha!

I think a photograph could tell them more about you based on what you were doing in the picture or where the picture was taken, or what else is in the picture. Like lynda, I doubt you would be judged on looks.

haha like the movie that one chick sent in to harvard in Legally Blond-lol and she got in!

Men are on the admissions committee, but I believe the head of CU undergrad admissions is a woman.

is the picture supposed to be just a headshot or is it supposed to be something more involved and interesting....i thought it was just to put a face with the application?

i probably wouldnt do that. i mean you wont get in just because you are good looking, but if you have a really friggin hedious look, u probably should keep the picture to yourself
