Because I haven't purchased my senior pictures yet, I sent in a picture of me, but it wasn't exactly done in a studio.
I just wanted to know if everyone else who sent in a picture sent in their senior photo, or just any old picture?

I'm just sending in a picture of me this summer at the CN Tower.

any picture should be fine. it will probably be used for freshmen profiles

I sent one of mine that was taking a year ago at disneyland. not exactly recent and not professional. I'd say don't send any with a billion people in it, send one that focuses on you.

Yeah and also you can try to have the pic express you. Csix, who hasn't posted on this thread yet, posted on another thread about the pic. I thought his words were useful so I brought them back

I saw the picture as another chance to express myself ... last year for Superhero Day at school, I dressed up as Calculus Man, so I sent that picture of me ...

I've been quoted! I feel honored ...

Yeah, I got in ED and I sent in the above picture. So don't feel like you have to send in a professional picture. :D

very daring move =p and cool pic too

My pic is me on the Arc de Triomphe with the Eiffel Tower over my shoulder

ALso wearing a red sox hat

Guess i Kill 2 birds with one stone: love of french and love of sports

mine was a quick shot of me on the campus when I visited the summer before

Oh hey... that was a good idea... the campus behind you....

I just set up my digital camera on a stand, set the timer, and took a picture of myself right before I sent in my app. When printing a copy of the app for your records, DO NOT print the page that has the photo on it. It will take up a LOT of ink.

red sox hat...applying to columbia?

not smart.

I simply sent in a passport photo (head shot), and I was accepted E.D. Frankly, I think the photos only serve to support any ethnic assertion declared (for those who declare). For those who choose to submit professionally-directed (read: college consulting-approved or college consulting-arranged) photos, I don't think it will help one iota with admission if you don't have the stats and/or something that otherwise would distinguish you from the crowd (and while a unique picture might do that, you know that's no "hook" per se.) For those who are creative, intelligent and the basicestats to back it up who submit unusual and/or obviously creative or unique photos, then expressing your uniqueness through your photo might be beneficial. Otherwise, the whole photo thing most likely amounts to little more fodder. Either you have what it takes to get in or not: the picture really isn't intended to test anyone's ability to be competitively gimmicky.

I know my stats aren't terrific and the decision might have been a close one between me and another applicant; I think in that case, my photo was what got me in. But Phew! is right; I doubt the photo can have a tremendous effect on your application unless it's the one thing you have over another (similarly qualified) applicant.
