Optional rec!!!

Hi all,

I sent my app yesterday. Problem is, I sent in an optional letter of rec WITHOUT the optional reference form. Do you think that'll look bad? Should I ask the person who wrote me the reference to fill out the FORM and go send it now? But it's kinda funny to send the letter and the form separately!!! Anyone got any advice?? THanks and g'luck all!

Did you put the reference in an envelope and get it sealed and signed over?

wait. i didnt know i have get some special something to send an optional rec.
i asked my teacher to send an optional recommendation and what he did was just sending a letter.

can anyone explain me those reference form and everything else..?
i used the common app, and i didnt know that at all. what should i DO?

well, in the Pton application, they have this one called Optional Reference. You can choose a teacher, friend, boss blah blah But I guess it isn't very important cause in the form, it asks only name + address + time and context of acquaintance. That's all.

don't panic. call and ask. and advice for the people who use the Common: you should definetely check out each school's website for supplements and extra forms. don't get caught out (or worse: deferred) for not having a completed application, supplements included. optional is obviously optional, but at least you should have the choice to send it, and the only way to have that choice is to know it exists...

For Princeton:

{see under "Apply Here"}

Well, the whole point is to attach a letter.

-> Yeah, sure I did!

-> exactly!! All of the information the form asks, I believe, is already explained in the letter. So should I bother to send it separately??? I'll e-mail them to ask, but until I receive their reply, I still want to know what you guys think :)

Quick guys, what other schools can you send in an optional rec?
Out of these schools: Cornell University, Johns Hopkins, Washington U, Yale U

I know for Duke U, Dartmouth (required Peer Eval.), and Princeton , my friend's letter covers, but what other schools out of these four, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Wash U, Yale can you send in optional ref?

just.a.thought: I'd say no. Sending a form without anything written in the provided space seems somewhat abnormal :D

as long as they can pinpoint it to you it should be fine...i think
