Hey,

many colleges allow an additional optional rec.
however, common app doesn't have that form.
what type of forms/information should I give to my optional recommender?

thanks

Every college is different. You can usually find out about additional recommends on each website. Generally speaking:

1-From a Science or Math teacher
1-From a humanities or English teacher
1-From a high school advisor
and some colleges permit or request another from:

a peer (someone your age that knows you well)
an employer (your boss) also for volunteering
clergy
coach

Recommendations from someone who knows you and writes well are the best. Recommendations from a notable person that doesn't know you are worthless.

I know all that and the requirements of recs LOL

I was asking what type of form I should give my optional recommender.
common app doens't have such a form.

yale "strongly discourages" additional recs, just so you know.
princeton and u chicago have additional forms for supplemental recs.
the rest on my list don't have specific instructions other than "its okay, you can send it" and occasionally "be sure to include name, address, social security, high school, email, phone, etc"

bump???????

bumping this too

bumping this too

I dont think it matters much Some schools have another form for supplimentary recs, some do not. I think they have different forms for tracking. If you look at the forms they are all basically he same, except a bit at the top. So, just use the regular form, or make sure your name and address get on the letter so they know who ou are.
