Hi. I'm considering transferring to JHU in the Fall of 2007 as a sophomore transfer.. I just read on the website that SATs are OPTIONAL (in bold lettering!) What does this mean for a potential applicant? My scores were not extremely exceptional so I am wondering how SATs weigh with a transfer student, if they are in fact optional. Thank you.

Here is what the website says:

"Official results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) are optional....There is no required minimum score for the SAT or ACT if you chooose to submit one of these scores."

What does it mean for a potential applicant?
Well, it means you have the choice of whether to send your test scores or not. That is what OPTIONAL means. If you choose to send them, then they will be a factor in the review. If you choose not to send them, since they are optional, it will not be a disadvantage to you. YOUR CHOICE.

What about the high school transcript - can that be optional as well?
