My D applied to 2 schools that claimed that SAT/ACT test scores were optional so she opted not to send them. Both schools contacted her asking her to send her ACT scores. What gives? Does that mean she's borderline? Are they trying to determine merit scholarships and need more data? Why do they claim to be "test optional" when clearly they are not? If they just want the scores for their database, they could only require it for accepted or enrolled students so that doesn't seem to be the answer. FYI, she has great ECs, very good grades and teacher rec. She got into the 4 schools she's heard from so far with partial scholarships.

If she is already accepted, these schools are practicing full disclosure for reporting purposes…good for them; at least they are not trying to boost their stats by not disclosing accepted student stats…

If she has not already been accepted, I would speak to her guidance counselor to find out what gives…?

and please PM me with the schools, if you are comfortable, so we can cross them off my daughter’s list of test optional? schools…

Hopefully your D has already been accepted and the school are collecting the testing info for another worthwhile purpose. I know that Wake Forest for example is test optional but requires SAT/ACT scores for scholarship consideration.

The schools are Knox and Lawrence. As I said in my OP, she has not yet been accepted to these schools. That’s why I was annoyed.

^^artfulmom: I would address this with your daughter’s guidance counselor; maybe they can call and find out what the deal is…good luck!!

Just send them- whats the harm?

Did she put the scores on her application, maybe?

She might have. I didn’t think of that. I guess I still question why these schools have to see the actual scores if they claim you don’t have to send them. Couldn’t they just not consider them?
