Have any of you received info about the optional health plans, and do you plan to apply?

Did you just receive information about this?
I know I sent back a medical waiver but I think that was general healthcare...in any case, I don't plan to get vision/dental since I live close to home enough to go home for those things.

No info, but just wondering when/if they will write to tell us about it because I think the deadline for applying is really near.

Are you still paranoid about having a deadline looming over your head?

I thought the vision/dental went with the other health stuff?

No it doesn't. It's a different insurance scheme. I think I'll apply for the dental one.

August 16th is the deadline.
It's a pretty good deal esp if you wear contacts.

Yeah, the deadline is next week but I don't think Princeton has sent anything to us yet. Anyway zant, if you don't have the SHP, you're not legible for the dental and vision plans, so no need to worry! :p

Yeah, I didn't sign up for SHP, but I'm a-gonna have to find a good orthodontic plan pronto. Boo.

I'm assuming we're supposed just look it up on the Princeton health website, print and fill out the .pdf file file, and mail it in? I can't think of anything else...

I'm not getting the optical and dental plans because tbe army provides them for cheap back home (army brat, here). I figure I'll just get my yearly checkups during the summer, buy my contacts in bulk at Sam's, and hopefully I won't go blind or get severe gingivitis between now and then.

Dude, my dad has gingivitis and it is NOT pretty shudders
Luckily I haven't had any problems with my teeth but I might need to get my wisdoms out soon...

lol. Do you think most college kids have eye/tooth problems? I hadn't really considered the plans necessary (probably why they're optional :p) but I've heard a few stories of the college kid who had to have $1000 work done and didn't have a dental plan... I wonder if that happens offen. Like, what could go wrong with your eyes/teeth (if you're not an athlete? :p)

Well, I'm sure college kids get cavities...and people who have glasses/contacts might need to go to their eye doctors more often.
I think most people can get away with just using thier doctors back home (you do go home a few times a year even if you live far away...) and the college covers some emergency injuries no matter what...

This looks like a good dental plan, but am I correct in my understanding that there are no on-campus dental providers?

It looks like it. You have to choose one of the Eastern Dental Offices. I think the nearest office is in Trenton... the Lawrenceville office.

so we have to mail it to them?

Yup. Unless you find a link that allows us to email/post it online.

OK the form asks for the Princeton University ID number. WHat's that supposed to be? Or haven't I been reading my mail carefully enough?

Yay! I found it :) Just search for your own name at the Pton website under people search. Your ID should be the last line.

Oh so the alias is the ID number? That makes sense. Thanks :)

OK I have another question - for the mailing address and telephone no. should we write our home address and number or the campus one?

I'm assuming home, but I'm not going to be there too long for them to mail me stuff am I? Then again I'm sending the form back to Princeton which should know my campus address.

I'm so

:(
