Hi everyone,

I am worried that I might fail a class this semester. I have been trying so hard in that class, so it's not like I have been slacking off. For some reason I just can't do well.

What are my options at this point? Can I drop the class and receive a "W". Or should I take what I get in the class and retake it another semester?

You can’t really drop the class now without dean’s approval, which might not happen. Instead, why don’t you just take the F, and then retake it? Berkeley has a grade forgiveness policy so you can fail and take it for a better grade, and your GPA will only look at the passing grade :)

Are you planning on grad/law school? If so, I’d try for the W even though it’s too late under the normal system. I know that LSAC still counts any D or F grades, even if you took the class again and got a better grade.
