Hi,
So, I am a 19 year old international student who has just been academically dismissed after my freshman year. The first semester I had many personal issues (mostly health related) and got a really bad GPA of 1.1. The second semester, some of these problems still happened but I was able to improve and get a 2.8 (which isn’t great but isn’t terrible. However because my cumulative still doesn’t meet the minimum of 2.0 I have gotten dismissed.
Now there is an option to appeal at my university, which I plan to do, just to have an option of returning however, I am looking forward to a fresh start as even though I can make up my bad GPA through better performances, it is too late to transfer after my sophomore year and also I don’t want an academic dismissal on my transcript, which I feel would ruin my chances of getting good job interviews. Because of the academic dismissal on my transcript as well, it would make it very hard to apply in other US universities and i don’t want to hide it as I will be caught I think (I’m not exactly sure but i’ve been told its through National Student Clearing House)
I was considering going to the UK instead and starting a 3 year undergraduate program as thankfully, finances are not a problem for me. What I am not sure about is if i do apply to the UK, would I need to send my transcript of my one year in the US? The university site does not ask me for all previous transcripts, it just asks for high school records and recommendations. So, could I just say this was a gap year I spent in the US? Because to my knowledge, the National Student Clearing House isn’t international.
If I did end up doing this and going to the UK and finished my undergraduate there, would I still be able to graduate in the US? or would I be restricted to the UK? Because Harvard (for example) Graduate School requires transcripts from all undergraduate institutions so I would have to provide the one for my freshman year as well, or is this not the case?
I’m just confused over what my best course of option is.
Thanks
