Options for Retakes....

I've only got one more chance for taking the SAT I or SAT Subject Tests in October.
I have 3 Options for myself, based on previous scores, and I am not sure which would be best recommended.

Previous Scores:
SAT1 (March): 1930
CR: 560
M: 690
W: 680

SAT1 (June) 2180:
CR: 620
M: 780
W: 780

SATII:
Maths II: 750
Bio-M: 650
Chemistry: 720

Option 1:
Retake SAT1 to improve reading score to superscore to 2200+

Option 2:
Retake Bio-M to attain 750+ and take Math I Subject Test with a hopeful 750+

Option 3:
Don't take anymore tests, as I would be taking the SAT1 test 3 times. Subject Tests only really look at top 2, and Math2 and Chem are decent.

For background, my top choice is the University of Pennsylvania, applying Early Decision. I have very solid ECs and will have a compelling essay and 3 very professional and heartfelt recommendations. GPA is 3.9ish.

Thanks for your advice!!!

Anybody? I was also considering waiting for the ACT scores to arrive to see if I landed in Upenn’s range and then make a decision based on that.

If your ACT score is good, then you wouldn’t have to worry about any of the SAT tests, including the subject tests.

Whether a 750 in Math II is decent or not I’ll leave to someone else to say. It’s definitely not amazing, considering that always popping up statistic that 12% get 800s. You definitely shouldn’t take the Math I Subject Test, so forget Option 2.

At the moment, waiting for ACT scores seems best. You can retake the ACT if you don’t think it’s good enough. If not that, then I suppose that you should retake Math II and maybe Bio-M. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t have time to take another SAT though, huh?

Well that’s the decision - No tests, SAT I, or SAT IIs. I’m just nervous that the 620 CR will literally kill me even though the composite is relatively decent.
I see where you are coming from about the Math II. I will definitely consider your advice for a course of action.

the 620 CR might hold you back at Penn unless you have off the wall extracurriculars/essays. I wouldn’t take the risk.

Then again, you have to find out your ACT scores before anything else.

But if you aren’t happy with your ACT scores, i’d take something again. What do you have to lose?

Definitely wait for ACT scores.

Wait for ACT scores, then post those in this thread.

Thanks everyone… I’ll let you know about the ACT scores tomorrow. I saw Penn’s 25-75% range for that test is 30-34, so I’m hoping its in that range…will post tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Received a 31 ACT score on first try. Additional advice/recommendations needed…lol.

Well, you’ve definitely landed into its range. It’s not the greatest score, but with great recommendations and a great essay, I think you’re good. Unless, of course, you want to re-take the ACT. I’m not sure if you would make it in time for early with the SATs.
