Right now I’m in my first year of college at CC to transfer to a CSU, aiming for Cal Poly Pomona if it makes a difference, for a Business Administration major with a concentration in Computer Information Systems. I’ve been thinking of going for an OD after I get my bachelor’s since my family have been telling me I should look into becoming an optometrist since my dad works in the industry. I’m not against the idea, so I’ve been entertaining it and looking into it. I know I’ll need a bachelor’s first to get into an OD program anyways, so for now I’m adamant on sticking with my Business major so that if I do go for an OD, I can have both covered and have a backup, or if not, I’ll still have the bachelor’s I want.
So I’m looking at what schools are available in California for this just so I have an idea and start looking ahead a bit. So far I know there is an optometry school in Fullerton and UC Berkeley supposedly offers an optometry program post-baccalaureate. I can’t find any other colleges for an OD program whether public, private, etc. Any help finding more in California? If not, I’ll probably go to the one in Fullerton since it’s closest, but I’m not sure if it’s a great school.
